Topspares was founded in 1963 but originated from the Company SKC founded as early as 1929. The early years was spent in central Copenhagen, with a location for the warehouse and another for the administration. The product lines was filters and maintainence products from Holt Products (UK) and blade connectors and electrical components from AMP.
In the spring of 1968 new premises were needed, and the company moved out of Copenhagen to Glostrup about 15 km. outside the city center. In the years to follow the product range was expanded with car accessories, electrical components from Weco in Germany and exhaust systems from QH in the UK. Following the first oil crisis in 1973, the business enviroment changed drastically for the automotive industry, and it was a naturall step to enlarge the business towards subsupplying the danish industial companies. Having had several requests for grommets and plugs Robert Moss Ltd in Kidlington Uk was a perfect match for us.
By the mid 70’s we once again expeirienced lack of space and it was decided to build our own building, and the 1. of October 1978 we moved into the brand new premises on Formervangen 17, which should be the home for Topspares the next 3 decades.
As the 80’s began there was an increasing demand among our customers for exhaust fittings to go along with the exhaust systems, this range quickly developed into becoming a very important part of our product portfolio, and it soon became the starting point of our step into the export markets.
In the beginning of the 90’s we had gather so much knowledge about exporting and developing our own product range, that we were ready to take in another range, which ended up being stabiliser kits. The reason for this was that we through our exhaust fittings had a lot of expirence with rubber and metal products and assembling them into kits, from here it developed into stabilizer links. Today we are on our 6th generation, that have been tested with great results, in all modesty we believe ourselves that we today have the best stabiliser link in the world.
Back in 1984 we took the first step into the modern world of information technology, what at that time seem as a huge step for us, have since proved to be just the first in a long journey, which have given us many pleasures as well as worrys, but today we have a streamlined organisation, with a warehouse that works efficiently through a new WMS system implemented since we move to a new warehouse in 2007.
We keep seting our aims high, and feel that we through constant innovation are ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We work hard to be a company that has something to offer as well our customers as our employes.
